30 days of “thanksgivings”
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love that the sole purpose of the holiday is to gather together and be thankful for what and who we have. This sense of gratitude is something that I like to carry with me throughout the year and not just through the holiday season.
Research has shown that there is a direct correlation between gratitude and our wellbeing. When we practice gratitude, it can lower our stress and reduce symptoms of depression.
During the week I spend several of my mornings practicing daily gratitudes. For me this looks like listing three things in the beginning of my morning that I am thankful for. For others it may look like keeping a journal, a bullet point list, or meditation.
There will be some seasons where it may be hard to muster up things to be grateful for. In these seasons, you can write things you aspire to be thankful for. These gratitude practices can give us hope and boost our mood way beyond the Thanksgiving season.
I want to challenge you with this post to practice writing down one thing you're grateful for every day during the month November... Even if everyday it's pumpkin pie.
